#1094 – fixed fare route between any address in a mapped zone

I am trying to create somme fixed fare routes between any address in a mapped zone TO a POI (Point fo Interest).
but when I want to create a new zone, I have the choice between foreign countries.
I wish I could create a new local zone (a small town) for example.

same problem for Pick Up Zone or Drop off zone.

any solution ?

Hi Teddy,
when you go to back office > Dashboard > Zones and click on New, you can create as many zones for as many areas you like.
Type in the name of the town in Title field and click on search. The system will attempt to create the zone automatically for you (this doesn't work in many cases as automatic Zone creation is in its infancy and Google Maps API can not actually fetch correct zone borders always). Then you can move the whole Zone around by dragging it or expand and subtract it by dragging the placeholders along the borders.
From the Zones in the database only Activated zones will be available for your company so you can have unique zones for just your company.

Note: Be careful not to overlap Zones with each other because an address can only belong to 1 Zone. If an address is in 2 or more zones the system will consider the first created Zone that this address belongs to.

After you create your Zones you can create your Fixed fare routes between them.
All this has been tested extensively and used by multiple clients and there shouldn't be any problems.

Hi Teddy,

I was checking Zones for your company, I was trying to add a new zone, I wrote "La Chatre" in the search field in New Zone page, system pulled a matched zone named "La Chatre, Centre region, France" and showed the zone border automatically. Then, I hit Save button and the zone saved perfectly. I can then easily edit that zone. And, now if search for "La Chatre" in the search field in New Zone page, system now shows this zone as suggestion. Actually, I could not replicate any problem in Zones section. Please check again and let us know if you find any problem with detailed explanation (with screenshot if possible).

I finally created one zone and a fixed fare route from this zone to a POI.
I have carefully read the documents you adviced me aka :

It works OK apparently. But when I test it, for example I type an adress of the zone on the reservation form, it does not give a fixed price, but a price according to the distance.

I don't know what to do.

Could you help me please ?

Hi Teddy,

I was trying to reproduce the problem, finally I have found it. Some of your zones are overlapping with each other and hence system can't detect the correct zone which is assigned to the fixed fare route. For example, if you add Parc Watteau, Nogent-sur-Marne, France as Pickup on your Booking Form, system shows "Please avoid Zone overlapping to have each address in only one zone!" error message and you will also see the overlapping zones (those are 3, Detected zone: Ile de France and Gare and Nogent-sur-Marne, Ile-de-France, France). If you add Aéroport de Paris-Orly, Orly, France as Dropoff, you will see more zones detected (you have to be logged in as company admin at frontend to see those debug message). Actually, you should have unique zones which will not overlap to each other at all. Please modify your zone areas to avoid overlapping and only then Fixed fares between zone to zone will work as expected. Please see attached for more details.

Thank you very much for your help.
The thing is these places are inside each other.

For exemple : Parc Wateau is a place, wich is inside the zone Nogent-sur-Marne, which is inside the zone Ile-de-France, which is inside the zone France.

So what should I do ?
Should I delete the zone Ile-de-France and the zone France ?

Hi Teddy,
you should not have a zone France with different Zones inside of it.
Zones are designed to allow you to create Fixed fare routes from one to the other and if there is overlapping then an address can belong to 2 or more different Zones.
In this case, the system will consider the first Zone created that the address belongs to.
Also, if a POI is inside a Zone then the system will consider the Zone instead of the POI.
To overcome the problem with POI inside the zone you have to build the Zone around the POI so it is not included in the Zone address search and this way you can have separate Fixed fare routes from/to the Zone and from/to the POI.
So I will advise you to remove the Zone France as it covers the whole country and it is not needed.
Exclude the POIs from the Zones by surrounding them with the Zone borders and test the system again.

Remember, do not overlap Zones as the address search will consider just the first created Zone the address belongs to.

I have deleted the zone Ile-de-France, but it is still there.
It seems the system doesn't take into account.

Please find encloses a screen photo.
You will see the zone Ile-de-France is still there.

When I delete it, a windows opens and ask: "are you sure ?"
I confirm, but no chnage happens.

Please can you help me.

Hi Teddy,
when you delete a Zone it is only delted from your own Zones. The button next to the zone turns into Activate, which menas that the Zone is not active (deleted).
Please test your Fixed fare routes after you fix your Zones and let us know if you still have problems.

But the fixed fair still does not work...

I can't delete France because it is a country and not a zone.

Hi Teddy,
I have been checking your Zones again and I have noticed that you have a lot of overlapping.
Please check the screenshot attached.
borders of your zones have to be next to each other with no overlapping.
As explained before if an Address is found to belong to 2 or more zones the first Zone created will be considered and this will produce errors in pricing.

It is best to correct all your Zones first and then send us an example route with Pick up and Drop off and what the outcome price is expected to be for a car so we can properly check.
But the system has been checked multiple times and many of our clients are using it successfully so in your case it's most likely Zones problem.

so I have corrected the zones which have to do with the fixed fair price I want to do.

Here is an exemple :
The zone Bry-sur-Marne is a pick up and drop off zone.
there is no overlapping zone on it.
see the screen shot attached...

the fixed fair route is from any where in the zone Bry sur marne to a POI
the POI is outside the zone.
And this POI has no overlapping zone on it...
see screenshot attached...

But when I test the price, it never gives the fixed fair price, it gives a price per distance.

Hi Teddy,

We were investigating the issue for your company, finally we have managed to fix the problem. There was a zone for a different country (which you might have deleted, but zone itself was not removed automatically) which was actually causing the problem. We have removed that zone manually and now its working as expected. Please check on your side and let us know if you still find any problem.
