#310 – Pre-selected booking time

Hello,

Is it possible to change the way the booking time is pre-selected. So far, at 10:05, the system offers 11:00. It is confusing for customers who think nothing is available before 11:00. Could it be changed to 5mn or to actual time + Booking allowed after (hours) ?

Hi Fabien,
the system indeed calculates first available time as Actual time + Booking allowed after (hours) but also adds Base to Pick up time calculation which you have set up to Yes and also takes in consideration Drop off to Base time calculation for previous booking to avoid time overlap.

Please check that out and let us know if you find any problems but my tests show that everything works as designed.

Hi,

My point relates to the frontend.

If I want to book at 10:05, the system will show 11:00 as pre selected time. It's confusing. It's worst for bookings at 23:05 and +, as the system will show 00:00 of the following day, so if I want to book at 23:20, I have to change the time AND the day, so we often end up with bookings for 23:20 on the following day, which creates even more confusion.

If I have Booking Allowed after 15mn, couldn't the time in the frontend end by actual time + Booking allowed after?

Hi Fabien,
if you remove Pick up to Base time calculation from your settings then time will be calculated "actual time + Booking allowed after".

If you have Pick up to Base calculation: Yes then time is calculated "actual time + Booking allowed after + Pick up to Base"

Same applies to Drop off to Base calculation - this time will be added on the previous booking for the same car so it can not be booked for overlapping time period.

So what happens on your system is if you want to book at 10:05 it checks if the car is booked form a previous time frame including Drop off to Base calculation (as you have set this up to Yes) + Current time + Booking allowed after (hours) + Base to Pick up.
When you have a Base the system assumes that the car is returning to the Base after each trip (legal requirement in some countries).

If you notice a problem with the above set up when the Suggested booking is pushed for the next day eg. no car available at 23:20 and next suggested booking is 00:05 but the system actually books 23:20 on the next day please let us know in a separate ticket and we will take a closer look at your set up to help you.

Hi,

You did not get my point.

See attached screenshot, taken today at 17:03.

Time selected is 18:00. I don't see what it can have to do with Pick up to Base or Drop-Off to Base times as no pick up or drop off have been selected.

Could it be changed to a more 'logical' time? For instance actual time + Time Allowed for Booking? As mentioned in my ticket, it's very confusing for customers who think there is no cab available before 1800. It's worst at 2301, as the system shows the next day and we often have bookings for today booked for tomorrow.

Hi Fabien,
thank you for getting back to us.
Yes, with the screenshot now things are clearer.

We have changed the logic of Default time loading a bit. Because minute values are multiple of 5 the lowest possible min will be converted to next multiple of 5.
If current time is 10:47, then value of The Booking Form time will be changed to 10:50 instead of rounding to the nearest possible hour.
